Jerry Pico has been working with individuals, teams and organizations to define and achieve success in their own terms for over 20 years – including for more than 15 years in his learning, leadership and organizational consulting practice, People & Knowledge Works Consulting.
Simply put – he is passionate about enabling people and organizations to define their goals and achieve them by developing their potential to grow, collaborate and innovate!Jerry has been living in Munich, Germany since August 2014 when he accepted a position as a Sr Learning Programs and Executive Learning Manager with Allianz SE in this dual role:
As Senior Learning Programs Manager, lead the design, development and global delivery of technical learning for all commercial programs for the company’s leading functional academy; including the development and delivery of professional skills training to enhance the influence, negotiation and selling skills of our technical experts. Mentor and develop other team members, and organize annual expert conference.
As Executive Learning Manager, work with Board level sponsors to design to design and lead executive learning experiences and programs that facilitate executive development and engagement, and support culture change across the enterprise.
- These programs consistently receive excellent quantitative and qualitative participant and sponsor feedback: Net Promoter Score 90+ in 2015 and 2016
- Establish and build strong internal and external relationships to foster continuous innovation and improvement of our program offerings
Prior to that he served as the Head of Performance Management with the Daniel Swarovski Corporation AG, in Zürich, Switzerland,In that role he led a team to develop and implement a best-in-class global learning program that was delivered in-person and virtually to over 26,000, and changed the company’s culture by making it more performance and feedback oriented.
Once this project was completed, he was engaged in two other global learning projects: for ABB, he led the instructional design of content for a technical training delivered to over 100,00 employees via an online learning portal and Instructor Led Training (ILT) sessions to support their transition to a new cloud-based operating system. For Swiss Reinsurance, he designed and implemented a learning program for the development of emotional intelligence by improving the active listening skills for all client facing employees – enabling them to connect more effectively with their clients; all the learning sessions are being delivered/facilitated virtually. Simultaneously, he coached C-Suite executives at Zurich insurance and privately, and provided group facilitation services to improve team performance.

Education
Jerry received his Masters degree in Human Resources and Organization Development from the University of San Francisco, and his Bachelors degree in International Relations and Economics from the George Washington University. He is also a Certified Myers-Briggs Practitioner and World Café Facilitator. He has completed two community based, year-long Leadership Development Programs in San Francisco and Atlanta. He has also participated in Stanford University’s T-Group (Sensitivity and Authentic Communications) training.

Academic Experience
In addition to his consulting and private coaching practices, Jerry has served as an Adjunct Professor of Leadership Development in the graduate programs in Psychology, Human Resources Management and Business Administration at Golden Gate University in San Francisco. Received consistently high student evaluation scores, including the highest for a first-time professor.

Volunteerism and Community Service
Volunteerism and community service have always been a part of Jerry’s life: he has worked as a literacy tutor; a job and career counselor for the homeless clients in San Francisco; a career counselor and mentor for new Americans through Upwardly Global; a multicultural facilitator for a community based organization in the heart of Oakland; and performed organizational consulting and coaching for several nonprofit organizations on a pro bono basis.

Jerry is an excellent communicator, and his pieces have been published in the San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Examiner, San Francisco Business Times, and Atlanta Journal Constitution; he is a frequent guest speaker on the benefits of using the Myers-Briggs Personality Type methodology to accelerate individual, team and organizational performance; and most recently was quoted in several Yahoo! Hotjobs career articles. He also writes a Career Advice column for the Examiner.com.

Personal
Jerry was born and raised in Brooklyn NY and lived in San Francisco CA for many years before settling in to his new home in Munich Germany, where he lives with his most fabulous wife and partner in every way, Désirée, and their joyous young son, Valentin Conrad, who is now 8 years old. They have also lived in Zürich, Switzerland for two years.
Jerry has always been a bit of a traveler and explorer, and has also lived in Monterey and Los Angeles CA, Chicago IL, Washington DC, Atlanta GA and Florence, Italy. He is passionate about diversity and loves the experience of meeting people from different cultures and learning about those cultures.
He enjoys reading the New Yorker Magazine (Valentin too) and especially Malcolm Gladwell’s work, the Harvard Business Review, and almost anything about neuroscience, the brain and emotional intelligence. His personal and professional lives have been profoundly influenced by the works of Carl G. Jung, Joseph Campbell, Robert A. Johnson and other Jungians. Valentin also enjoys coming to work with his father 🙂
